From Miss to Mrs: Ashleigh gets married
Ashleigh Pano is a Client Advocate with Gilkison Group.
As many of you have been asking after realising the change in my surname on my email signature, yes – I got married recently!
My now husband, Chris and I got married on November 12, 2022.
Chris is a café owner and just over a year ago opened a new café in the CBD, Elixir251. We met through mutual friends one night out at a bar in the city and we were together for about three years before we got married.
Our wedding ceremony was at the Aquinas College Chapel (Chris went to school here and his family has a connection to the school) and our reception was in a marquee at Sandalford Winery in the Swan Valley.
Chris is Lebanese, so we had a pretty big wedding – around 250 guests (which were mainly family!). This of course had its struggles – starting with finding venues that were actually large enough to fit everyone, however, it all worked out perfectly in the end.
Being a big wedding, we really wanted our reception to be full of fun and dancing. To set the tone from the beginning, we entered our reception as husband and wife to some Lebanese drums. Almost everyone got out of their seats and danced with us on the dancefloor – it was a really fun way to kick off the evening.
Many of you have asked me about the day, so I thought I’d share a few wedding photos.
We had a honeymoon over the Christmas break, and we wanted to do something adventurous. I was also keen to see snow for the first time ever, so we went to Canada.
We spent all our time in Vancouver, Whistler and Banff and it was amazing, such a beautiful part of the world. Plus, I got to see a lot of snow in Whistler, so I was stoked.
We tried to snowboard and failed miserably, but we had fun trying and there were so many other activities in the snow to do. We had an absolute ball.
Now we’re home and going through the change of name process, ready for the year ahead.
